Franz Schubert Filharmonia in Tarragona
The Franz Schubert Filharmonia kicks off its 13th season at Tarragona Theatre, establishing itself as one of Catalonia’s leading symphonic ensembles and celebrating its twentieth anniversary. This year, the new season presents a cycle of nine concerts exploring a symphonic repertoire from the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring top-tier international conductors and soloists. Roser Festivities
This October, the Roser Festivities celebrate their Centenary (1925-2025), a milestone that showcases the unmatched strength of tradition and community. At TGNA Tarragona Apartments, we are honored to be the newest residents of the Part Alta of Tarragona. At TGNA Tarragona Apartments, we are committed to the city and actively collaborate throughout the year with the Calle Merceria Neighborhood Association, the Friends of the Part Alta, and the Geganters of Passeig Torroja, sponsoring their participation in events such as Carnival, the Tarragona Drag Gala, the Sant Magí giants’ gathering, and now, our debut at the Roser Festivities. This time, we collaborated on the design of the 10 commemorative flags that can be seen this year from Calle Merceria to Plaza del Fórum. These newly created flags pay tribute to the most cherished symbols of Catalan popular culture, from the emblematic giants and big-heads, to the Catalan pubilla and the Ball de Bastons, finishing with the Colla Xiquets de Tarragona. In addition to the creative aspect, we wanted to make the logistics of this great celebration easier by giving the keys and access to our Merceria premises to the neighborhood association. We know that these festival are the result of countless hours of voluntary effort, and any practical support is essential to ensure a successful centenary. The Part Alta is our new home. We hope to establish ourselves as long-term residents with our new TGNA Merceria 2 apartment building project, which we expect to complete before 2027. In the meantime, we will continue working together to keep our traditions alive. In addition, the beaches and coves of Tarragona are interconnected by the Camí de Ronda, a route that coincides with the GR 92 (Stage 25: Torredembarra-Tarragona), which offers spectacular views of the Costa Daurada. 🌊 Check the state of the beaches Tarragona: a protected natural treasure Tarragona is an extensive municipality that has three natural areas protected by the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN). In fact, in the Natural Areas of Tamarit-Punta de la Móra and the Mouth of the Gaià River, the landscape is constantly changing. Savinosa Beach Savinosa beach is known for its tranquility and for being a place where nature still plays a leading role. Surrounded by pine trees and with a nudist section, Savinosa beach is a Blue Flag beach that is ideal for tranquility. The sand is of high quality, it has showers and a bar, but parking is limited. Capellans Beach Capellans beach is a small cove hidden among cliffs. Thanks to this natural protection, the sea is calm there even with an undertow, unlike more exposed beaches such as Llarga Beach or Miracle Beach It does not have services, which gives it a more natural and pristine environment. The sand is fine and it is an ideal place for an intimate getaway. Access is easy by car, but parking can be a challenge. Llarga Beach Its name says it all: it is the most extensive beach in the city with almost 3 kilometres in length, which has different beach bars and restaurants. Despite being very crowded in the summer and having parking that is sometimes complicated, its wide extension makes it easy to find a quiet place to lay out your towel and spend the day, either by taking a peaceful walk from one end to the other or by hand-picking some razor clams. Cala Fonda o Waikiki Cala Fonda is the natural paradise of Tarragona. This secluded cove with fine sand is exclusively accessible on foot from Platja Llarga. Once you arrive, the beauty of its surroundings, with pine forests and transparent waters, will take your breath away. Having no services, l’Arboçar is a completely natural beach that must be respected, as it lives and suffers from social overexposure. Roca Plana Its protected environment makes it an idyllic place to disconnect. Access is on foot, a small effort from La Móra or Llarga beach that is completely worth it, as it lacks services. Located in the area known as the Marquesa Forest, this cove is a hidden gem. La Móra Beach La Móra beach is a Blue Flag beach, 450 meters long with a family-friendly atmosphere. Despite its urban surroundings, it retains a natural essence with pines, fine sand, and complete services. Its proximity to the residential and restaurant area makes it very convenient for families, although parking can be tricky in the summer. Cala Jovera With Tamarit Castle as a backdrop, this small cove with fine sand is a magical place. It’s the smallest in the area and is perfect for a quick visit. However, it has no services, and the nearest paid parking is inside the campsites. Tamarit Beach Located right next to the castle, Tamarit beach is a spectacular place. The sand is fine with pebbles (in winter) and the beach is very extensive, reaching as far as El Vinyet and La Roca del Gaià, with full services and a blue flag. It is part of a protected natural area, with the mouth of the Gaià river as a natural bastion with its characteristic ducks, and the castle as a spectacular heritage element. 10th Parade of Giants and Big-Heads of Sant Magí
On August 17, 2025, the tenth edition of the traditional parade of giants and big-heads of Sant Magí will be held. A must-attend event for all lovers of popular culture, which this year will feature 15 giant groups, or ‘colles,’ from Catalonia and Aragon. This edition is special because the parade is returning to its traditional route. The Geganters del Passeig Torroja and the Club Maginet have prepared an itinerary that runs through the historic city center to the rhythm of music, with well-known songs like “El Bequetero” or “Jaume Guasch“. The parade will start at the Rambla Nova, right next to the Mediterranean Balcony (‘Balcó del Mediterrani’). From there, the giants and guest groups will make their way through the most emblematic streets of the Old Quarter (‘Part Alta’), such as Carrer Major, until they reach the Plaça de les Cols. The grand finale of the festival will be at the Pla de la Seu.
