In addition, the beaches and coves of Tarragona are interconnected by the Camí de Ronda, a route that coincides with the GR 92 (Stage 25: Torredembarra-Tarragona), which offers spectacular views of the Costa Daurada. 🌊 Check the state of the beaches Tarragona: a protected natural treasure Tarragona is an extensive municipality that has three natural areas protected by the Plan for Areas of Natural Interest (PEIN). In fact, in the Natural Areas of Tamarit-Punta de la Móra and the Mouth of the Gaià River, the landscape is constantly changing. We find cliffs, stone pines bent by the sea breeze, and a large number of birds like the cormorant. You can either take a tour of the 34 km network of marked paths of the Anella Verda or take the coastal path starting from the Moll de Costa, next to TGNA Reial 1, until you reach Tamarit Castle. Miracle Beach This is the most urban beach in Tarragona, accessible on foot from the city center. It’s the ideal option for a quick getaway to a 980-meter long regenerated sandy beach (finally without the “mamotreto”), with views of the marina and the city’s seafront. Arrabassada Beach 2.2 kilometers from TGNA Llúria 11, Arrabassada beach is the most popular urban beach due to its width of 60 meters and length of 550 meters, and its beach bars that are open all year round. Its fine sand, calm waters, and promenade make it perfect for both families and athletes who do their daily routine running or cycling. Savinosa Beach Savinosa beach is known for its tranquility and for being a place where nature still plays a leading role. Surrounded by pine trees and with a nudist section, Savinosa beach is a Blue Flag beach that is ideal for tranquility. The sand is of high quality, it has showers and a bar, but parking is limited. Capellans Beach Capellans beach is a small cove hidden among cliffs. Thanks to this natural protection, the sea is calm there even with an undertow, unlike more exposed beaches such as Llarga Beach or Miracle Beach It does not have services, which gives it a more natural and pristine environment. The sand is fine and it is an ideal place for an intimate getaway. Access is easy by car, but parking can be a challenge. Llarga Beach Its name says it all: it is the most extensive beach in the city with almost 3 kilometres in length, which has different beach bars and restaurants. Despite being very crowded in the summer and having parking that is sometimes complicated, its wide extension makes it easy to find a quiet place to lay out your towel and spend the day, either by taking a peaceful walk from one end to the other or by hand-picking some razor clams. Cala Fonda o Waikiki Cala Fonda is the natural paradise of Tarragona. This secluded cove with fine sand is exclusively accessible on foot from Platja Llarga. Once you arrive, the beauty of its surroundings, with pine forests and transparent waters, will take your breath away. Having no services, l’Arboçar is a completely natural beach that must be respected, as it lives and suffers from social overexposure. Roca Plana Its protected environment makes it an idyllic place to disconnect. Access is on foot, a small effort from La Móra or Llarga beach that is completely worth it, as it lacks services. Located in the area known as the Marquesa Forest, this cove is a hidden gem. La Móra Beach La Móra beach is a Blue Flag beach, 450 meters long with a family-friendly atmosphere. Despite its urban surroundings, it retains a natural essence with pines, fine sand, and complete services. Its proximity to the residential and restaurant area makes it very convenient for families, although parking can be tricky in the summer. Cala Jovera With Tamarit Castle as a backdrop, this small cove with fine sand is a magical place. It’s the smallest in the area and is perfect for a quick visit. However, it has no services, and the nearest paid parking is inside the campsites. Tamarit Beach Located right next to the castle, Tamarit beach is a spectacular place. The sand is fine with pebbles (in winter) and the beach is very extensive, reaching as far as El Vinyet and La Roca del Gaià, with full services and a blue flag. It is part of a protected natural area, with the mouth of the Gaià river as a natural bastion with its characteristic ducks, and the castle as a spectacular heritage element.
